The
SunCoast
Professional Golf Tour was established in 2007 as a tour that
catered to women professionals as well as competitive amateurs.
Recognizing the growth potential of women's golf the
SCPGT Ladies Series developed and
put into operation a low cost tour model that was based on value.
After three full seasons and almost seventy events the tour has seen
continued growth year after year.
In 2010, The
SCPGT will try to
expand into the Men's market offering a tour based on value, keeping
membership fees and entry fees lower than current industry standards.
Beginning in June 2010, the
SCPGT
will put into operation the "Future Stars" program aimed at high school
golfers aged 15-18 who have aspirations of moving up to college golf or
maybe even the professional ranks. There is a plan for a five or six
event schedule between June - August, for the players as they head into
their high school golf season. These events will be ranked by Junior
Golf Scoreboard.
Currently the
SCPGT is strictly
a player supported tour meaning that the funds to operate the tour come from
player registration fees and minimal per tournament administrative fees.
The tour is always open to corporate sponsorship opportunities. If you or
someone you know is interested in sponsorship opportunities with the
SCPGT, contact the tour at
td@suncoastseries.com.
The Director of the tour is Scott Walker. Scott has a long history of
operating developmental tour golf tournaments in Central Florida.
Beginning in 1999, Scott started the Hurricane Tour and operated it for
three years before merging with the NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour. The Hurricane
Tour became known as the NGA Hooters Winter Series in 2002, which Scott
directed from 2002 until the end of the 2007 season. In 2007, the
SCPGT was born. Scott has
over thirteen years experience in the competitive golf arena, ten of those
being in tournament management. Scott will use those years of
experience and over 300 multi-day tournaments conducted to ensure that the
tour is managed properly and the players are given a competitive tournament
atmosphere to develop their games in a direction that will help them achieve
their goals.
